5/16/13 - The 2010 New START Arms Treaty cuts our nuclear deterence to only 1,550 deployed warheads. President Obama is set to reduce our strategic warheads to as few as 1,000 weapons in the next round of talks with Russia. He may make the cuts to our arsenal by executive action and thereby bypass Congressional authorization. This in a world where North Korea has recently tested 3 underground devices and is believed to be working on developing smaller warheads that will fit onto long range missiles, Iran is continuing to enrich Uranium despite UN Sanctions, Russia is launching new versions of mobile launched and rail launched ICBMs, China has new road mobile ICBMs and a new submarine launched ballistic missile. There is a new arms race happening in the world, and we're not playing along. Do we have something that makes us immune to nuclear attack? I don't think so.
